Bronco Rules Reference
Coach checklist based on the rules supplied in this chat.
This is a convenience summary, not the official rulebook. Confirm current spring/fall and tournament rules with East Side Baseball: eastsidebaseball.com.
Roster & game length
Minimum 8 eligible players maintained within 10 minutes of game time; fewer than 9 means an automatic out in the empty ninth batting slot.
Scheduled for 6 innings or scheduled time, whichever comes first. Regular-season inning cannot start with less than 3 minutes on the clock.
Run limit per half inning: 5 in spring, 4 in fall, or 3 outs, whichever comes first.
Continuous batting order; free defensive substitutions, batting order stays the same.
Participation rotation
Within the first 4 innings, every player must play at least one outfield inning or sit, and at least one infield inning.
No player at the same position for more than 2 innings.
No player sits twice before every player sits at least once; no consecutive bench innings.
Non-pitcher defensive changes only at half-inning start, pitching change, or injury/illness.
Pitching
One pitch to a batter counts as an inning pitched. A pitcher removed may not pitch again in that game.
Daily limit supplied: spring 3 innings; fall regular season 2 innings, fall postseason 3 innings; max 85 pitches for Bronco.
Rest by pitches: 0–20 = none; 21–35 = 1 day; 36–50 = 2 days; 51–65 = 3 days; over 65 = 4 days.
Doubleheader: may pitch in game 2 only if the pitcher did not exceed 20 pitches in game 1, subject to daily limits.
Roster substitutions & other
Short-roster substitute must be East Side eligible and drafted at least one round later than the absent player; substitute bats last and plays OF all game.
Second coach visit to same pitcher in same inning removes that pitcher.
Major balks called after spring break in spring and after fall break in fall, at umpire discretion.
Collision rule: runner may be out for failing to avoid a collision with a fielder attempting a tag or receiving the ball.
